"O Corpo que Guarda os Ausentes" é o título da 1ª Exposição individual de escultura, de Lezile. que explora o corpo como espaço de memória, resistência e reconstrução. Através de 19 esculturas em madeira de sândalo, o artista revela ausências, feridas e presenças invisíveis que habitam a memória individual e coletiva.
A obra reflete sobre silêncios históricos, heranças espirituais e processos de desconstrução da identidade, valorizando a ancestralidade e a moçambicanidade. As peças funcionam como um arquivo de experiências vividas, transformadas em linguagem visual.
Apresentada no Museu Mafalala, esta primeira exposição individual propõe uma reflexão crítica sobre o corpo como território simbólico, questionando influências externas e afirmando saberes e culturas próprias.

“The Body That Holds the Absent” is the title of Juvenil Alex Lezilé’s first solo sculpture exhibition. The work explores the body as a space of memory, resistance, and reconstruction. Through 19 sandalwood sculptures, the artist reveals absences, wounds, and invisible presences that inhabit both individual and collective memory.
The exhibition reflects on historical silences, spiritual heritage, and processes of identity deconstruction, while affirming ancestry and Mozambican identity. The pieces function as an archive of lived experiences, transformed into visual language.
Presented at the Mafalala Museum, this first solo exhibition offers a critical reflection on the body as a symbolic territory, questioning external influences and affirming local knowledge and cultural identities.
Lezile
Juvenil Alex Lezile (1999), natural do Niassa (distrito do Lago), é um artista cuja trajetória é marcada por desafios e superação, fatores que moldam sua visão de mundo e prática artística.
Atualmente estudante no Instituto Superior de Artes e Cultura, Lezilé desenvolve trabalhos em fotografia, desenho, pintura, escultura e instalação. Para ele, criar vai além da estética, sendo um exercício de consciência, questionamento e afirmação cultural.
O seu trabalho explora o corpo como território simbólico e arquivo de experiências vividas. Em 2023, participou da residência artística “A Literatura como forma de estar na periferia de Maputo”, apresentada no Museu Mafalala.

Juvenil Alex Lezilé (1999), originally from Niassa (Lago District), is anartist whose trajectory is marked by challenges and resilience, shaping his worldview and artistic practice.
Currently a student at the Institute of Arts and Culture (ISArC), Lezilé works across photography, drawing, painting, sculpture, and installation. For him, creating goes beyond aesthetics, serving as an exercise in awareness, questioning, and cultural affirmation.
His work explores the body as a symbolic territory and an archive of lived experiences. In 2023, he participated in the artistic residency “Literature as a way of being in the outskirts of Maputo,” presented at the Mafalala Museum.
